No worries, I have sent you a message, try replying to it. Do you have his Medal Index Card, if so there should be an entry saying List M.??? with a number, if so I can send you the badge roll with his entry in.

You'll find Inglefield's History of the Twentieth (Light) Division worth a read.

Also these old topics here on the Forum contain lots about 12/RB's attack on 25th September 1915 ...

Loos,25th September 1915, attack towards Fromelles by Bareilly Division

Loos 25th September 1915 Rifle Brigade, attack towards Fromelles

Lt C R C Maltby 12th Bn Rifle Brigade, any more infomation ?

Battle of Loos

Enjoy!

MBrockway

Many thanks for the links to 12 RB's attacks on 25 September 1915 and Inglefield's history - they will complement the excellent information sent to me

by Andy(Stiletto)

Unfortunately, I don't know which Company my Grandfather would have been attached.

Thank you once again.

Hi Andy

Is their a map which identifies the 12th Battalion RB's position on 25 September 1915 ? Is their any possibility I might be able to find out the Company to which he was attached?

The position incorrectly labelled 'KRR' on this map from the 2nd Black Watch records is actually the location of 12/RB ...

Hi Andy

Sorry to trouble you again, but you previously suggested that you might have had some information on Witley and Larkhill where the Battalion underwent their pre action training?

Regards

Could anyone provide me with the protocols which might have been followed in recovery of wounded soldiers from the battlefield?

I'm assuming it could have been possible for a wounded soldier to lay on the field for some time before he was removed from the conflict.

Would those wounded have been removed to a Casualty Clearing Station and then on to a Hospital either in France or back in England?

Many thanks

Blackburnian
