It's the suggestion this the Kaiser's childhood could have been the cause if WWI which made me go

Anyway, Skippy, why are you reading the Daily Mail? :P

I rather enjoyed it. There wasn't much that was earth-shatteringly new (Massie covered most of it in "Dreadnoughts"), but it was well put-together and there were some rather stunning locations.

I do like the Boche Royal Family!

There's a lot of water under the bridge now, maybe they could go back to using their real name now. Nobody would mind, surely?

I enjoyed it too, though missed bits.

I had this recorded and watched it last night. Thought it was extremely interesting and [almost] felt sorry for the Kaiser as a child.

Anne - no almost about it. He seems to have a rotten childhood.

So a case of "Zat's it ! No more Herr Nice Guy!" would you say?

His son was a nice chap though, if you can overlook Verdun. Nice sympathetic pic of his better half over on another thread.

And the son was, as mentioned elsewhere, a very popular Colonel -n Chief of the 11th Hussars in the balmy days of peace.

We missed it, but after the good reviews I shall record it as it's repeated tonight on 4seven at 5 past midnight.

4OD, nah, it's ok if you're on a trip (train, plane, etc) but I'd rather watch it on the big screen when I can. Thanks though Skippy :)

If I decide to go on a trip, I prefer not to be doing it in a plane or train. Other people do stare so.
