shancrom Posted 11 November , 2013 Posted 11 November , 2013 During , a recent clearance of a house belonging to an deceased elderly gent a set of medals have been found, family have asked me to try and find some background to the Soldier, can't seem to tie any connection to the family, any experts on Leinster Regt out there, Medal index card states he was Pte 3475 Lein Regt, then promoted 2nd Lt Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, it states he was listed a missing 22/08/18, any further info much appreciated.
sotonmate Posted 11 November , 2013 Posted 11 November , 2013 William Edgar BARTON 3475 Leinster Regiment first landed in France on 17 Dec 1915 with 7 Battalion,which was part of 47 Brigade of 16 (Irish) Division. Commissioned as 2/Lt on 31 July 1917 and served with 12 Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. He has a service file at Kew under WO374/4512. Not digital.
