Isn't the poppy registered to the British Legion? If not why not, or if so do they just let anyone use it, or not care if it gets ripped off?

It may be possible to register a particular poppy based design (but you'd have to do it in each country assuming no one else had beat you to it) but poppy motifs in general may be difficult or impossible - like registering Father Chri*tmas or Chri*tmas Trees
