Remembering my Great Uncle James Anthony Murphy, 8th Battalion Royal Winnipeg Rifles, killed on 10th November 1917 at Passchendaele, aged 24. His remains were never recovered and he is commemorated on the Menin Gate and Vimy Ridge memorials, and on the war memorial in his adopted home town of Kenora, Ontario.

Your family haven't forgotten you Jim

Thanks so much for sending me those links. I had never seen those documents before. I have his service file but they are not on it.

Shane

If you search for James on canadiangreatwarproject.com there are some photographs of him, if you haven't seen them before.

Thanks for the heads up on that Bob. I had sent some photos and information to the historical society in Kenora last year but I had no idea they had set up this page. I'm thrilled, and really quite moved to see it and it just increases my determination to visit Canada one day.
