kenora Posted 10 November , 2013 Share Posted 10 November , 2013 Remembering my Great Uncle James Anthony Murphy, 8th Battalion Royal Winnipeg Rifles, killed on 10th November 1917 at Passchendaele, aged 24. His remains were never recovered and he is commemorated on the Menin Gate and Vimy Ridge memorials, and on the war memorial in his adopted home town of Kenora, Ontario. kenora Posted 10 November , 2013 Author Share Posted 10 November , 2013 Thanks so much for sending me those links. I had never seen those documents before. I have his service file but they are not on it. Shane
ulsterlad2 Posted 10 November , 2013 Share Posted 10 November , 2013 No problem Shane. Those of us on the forum with an interest in the CEF are lucky to have access to many service related documents.
little bob Posted 10 November , 2013 Share Posted 10 November , 2013 Shane If you search for James on canadiangreatwarproject.com there are some photographs of him, if you haven't seen them before. Bob
kenora Posted 10 November , 2013 Author Share Posted 10 November , 2013 Thanks for the heads up on that Bob. I had sent some photos and information to the historical society in Kenora last year but I had no idea they had set up this page. I'm thrilled, and really quite moved to see it and it just increases my determination to visit Canada one day. Shane
