Sandcroft Posted 7 November , 2013 Posted 7 November , 2013 Battiscombe, I've just seen an entry in the Hospital Admission and Discharge Thread, an entry for a Ruppesburgh 9786 Gnr. 106th Bat. Looks very much like an error, this could be well worth following up. Regards, Sandcroft
sotonmate Posted 7 November , 2013 Posted 7 November , 2013 MIC for Gunner George FW Ruppersbury 97840 22Brigade RFA to war 6.10.1914 discharged to SWB on 17.7.1917. 106 Battery ties in with 22Brigade. No Ruppersburgh.
battiscombe Posted 7 November , 2013 Posted 7 November , 2013 this is a familiar name; I have a note of him as being in 22nd Bde,, but not his battery.. there is a photo of him in the 'Graphic'.. late 1914/early 1915 I seem to remember - home on leave, or wounded... showing his jackknife which was in his breast pocket and had deflected a shrapnel bullet, or some such story ..thanks for the note ..
