Birmingham Lord Mayor Somme visit

Terry Carter

Recommended Posts

Over the next two days the Lord Mayor of Birmingham will be meeting up with the Mayor of Albert to discuss renewing links that were established after WW1. With a view of various commemorations over 100 Anniversary period.

He will also be laying a wreath at Caterpillar Valley Cemetery and Thiepval Memorial and visiting the area the Birmingham Pals attacked on 22 July 1916

Regards

Terry

I seem to remember a road at the side of the Basilica I think, being the Rue de Birmingham, in honour of the immediate post war link and was there a school funded by Birmingham as well? Renewal of the old link would be nice although I think the towns are no longer officially "twinned"? Any one know any other psot war links / SG
