8055Bell Posted 3 November , 2013 Posted 3 November , 2013 Gabby, The Manchester Regiment number suggests he joined the regular army in Spring 1896. May I recommend http://www.themanchesters.org/ if you want to know more about his early military career prior to WW1. Hope this helps. Tim

Tillysox Posted 2 May , 2024 Posted 2 May , 2024 Oh my god this was my great uncle … I could have cried tonight when I saw this . I would love to see his medal , very sad that I was unable to find him for over 30 years , it’s a long story involving a change of name , though I can verify this is definitely my mums uncle , my mum is now 87 and has wondered about him all her life x
Admin Bob Davies Posted 2 May , 2024 Admin Posted 2 May , 2024 Welcome to 'The Great War Forum' Tillysox, @gabbygabby40 has not visited the Forum for quite some time, there is a chance that they will respond to my link. Best Wishes, Bob.
Tillysox Posted 2 May , 2024 Posted 2 May , 2024 Aww thank you very much , I’m so elated that someone has mentioned him . It’s been a difficult journey to try and find him ( 25 years ) due to him changing his name x
