Gravesend Cemetery

I have photographed all of the stones, (that I could find!) commemorating a Great War casualty in Gravesend Cemetery. If anyone wants an electronic copy of a particular stone, drop me a line and I can email one out. A few of them have no stone and are only commemorated on the Memorial wall.

Andy.

Andy, although I personally do not require any photographs from Gravesend, I would like to congratulate you on taking the time and effort in doing so and offering them to the forum. Well done.

Kind regards,

Sean.

Hi

I am heading a [school] project looking into the background of those listed on the Windmill Hill Memorial; I have been to the cemetery in Gravesend but was unable to match your list!

I am seeking your help either to give an idea where in the graveyard the following are remembered or a copy of the image you have taken. We shall acknowledge all help and assistance with the finished project -

many thanks

Colm

RMFA, I take it you are local to Gravesend, if so, we ought to meet up, I have researched all the names on the Windmill Hill Memorial and got photo's of the headstones for these casualties. Some are mentioned on parents graves, and are not actually buried locally. I am more than willing to pass on anything useful for the project.

Firstly I would like to thankyou for the amazing time and effort you must have put into this for everyone.

Please could you tell me if there is a headstone for Frederick Victor Church at any of the local cemetaries, he was my Great Grandfather.

I know he is on the war memorial at Windmill Hill but have no idea whether soldiers who died abroad had headstones in the local cemetaries.

I do not think his body was ever found. So he is still lying in the trenches somewhere with his fellow soldiers.

Thankyou

Hello,

I am researching my Great Uncle 'PercyTufnell Box' who was aboard the SS Maloja when it sank in 1916 and note his name mentioned above. The remaining family would dearly like to know if he rests in the Gravesend Cemetery or is named on the memorial wall. Any pictures, documents or research would be appreciated.
