edwin astill Posted 30 October , 2013 Posted 30 October , 2013 Looking around Annan Museum yesterday (prior to watching the Shire take on Annan Athletic) I saw some peat bricks, made locally, which are said to have been of a kind sent to the Western Front. I've never come across any references to peat being used as fuel in trenches - although it seems a sensible thing to do. Are there any references to these that folk may have come across? Edwin
mebu Posted 30 October , 2013 Posted 30 October , 2013 Not sure about the trenches.....but as there were several thousand huts in camps, which needed heating, and coal was certainly sent over, it sounds logical. Peter
