Any Bradford Based Pals or 2nd Bradford Pals Specialists

Given that the following soldier lived in Bradford and married a Bradford lass, I am hoping that he will be mentioned in one of the local newspapers. So I was just wondering if anyone has done a search of any of the local newspapers either for men for the Pals battalions or in general. Any help or advice or the offer of a look up would be gratefully appreciated,

Kind regards,

Pete.

BARBER, George Arthur, b. Chatham, Kent, e. Bradford, Yorks r. Frizinghall, Yorks,18/876 L/Sgt, Died of wounds, France and Flanders, 01/07/16, Prince of Wales`s Own (West Yorkshire Regiment), 18th Battalion.

Hi Pete,

There is a Card Index in the Local Studies Library at Bradford which may well have a reference to your man from the Telegraph and Argus newspaper, and if you are lucky he may have a photo too. Unfortunately the library has been closed for several months whilst major repairs are carried out to the roof and other areas. I believe that the work is almost finished now and that the library will be up and running again within weeks or even sooner.

Perhaps if you post again in about a month's time, then it may be possible for me to have a look for you.
