The above Died 27th May 1918.

Does anyone have records of what the Leicester Regiment were involved in that day ?

I would very much appreciate some information.

PS I have his Service Record

He was with the 7th Battalion. If you're near Kew, you can see the War Diary at The National Archives. It has not been digitised yet, so you will need to visit in person and get a Readers Ticket. The reference is WO 95/2164/2

The date and place of commemoration suggest second Aisne. Hopefully David Blanchard can add some more to this.

You wrote 2018 in your OP, I assume you meant 1918.

Hello Malc,

Definitely the Aisne. If you can send me a pm with your e mail details i'll let you have the transcribed diary entry for the 27th, and a appendix from the original diary which you should find interesting. Matthew Richardsons book "The Tigers" would also give you a fuller picture on George's service with the 7th Battalion up until the 27th.

Regards.

Llew.
