It's a pity he doesn't give the names of those shot and why. A set of statistics may be of some peripheral interest, but it's the men who count.

I found it an excellent report which made very clear the difficulties of tackling this question 100 years after the events with imperfect knowledge of the facts and when social and moral attitudes have changed so much. It will be very interesting to see now the French government responds. (This topic already figures in another thread.)

is there an English version of this report?

Why should there be? It's a report commissioned by the French government from French historians as an aïd to French government policy.
