Hi All.

My great uncle seems to have enlisted twice in ww1,

Frederick Bollands ww1 served in 2/4th - 16th york & Lanc Reg

First enlisted 12/07/1915 2/4th York & Lancs Reg

then enlisted again 01/07/1916 16th york & Lancs Reg (no 26199 )

Seems strange see screen shots of service record.

any help would be great

Paul

Paul

This is how I read it

Frederick previously served with the 2/4 Bn Yorks Regiment (Yorkshire Regiment The Green Howards)

The 2/4 Yorks Battalion was a training reserve battalion providing drafts to the 1/4 Yorks regiment to make up losses

Soldiers were also transferred from the 2/4 Yorks Bn to other Battalions, The York and Lancs being one of them

So as I read it Frederick initially served with the 2/4 Yorks He was then transferred/posted to the York and Lancaster Reg
