My great uncle seems to have enlisted twice in ww1, Frederick Bollands ww1 served in 2/4th - 16th york & Lanc Reg First enlisted 12/07/1915 2/4th York & Lancs Reg then enlisted again 01/07/1916 16th york & Lancs Reg (no 26199 ) Seems strange see screen shots of service record. any help would be great Paul Edited 15 October , 2013 by Paulboll Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
RaySearching Posted 16 October , 2013 Share Posted 16 October , 2013 Paul This is how I read it Frederick previously served with the 2/4 Bn Yorks Regiment (Yorkshire Regiment The Green Howards) The 2/4 Yorks Battalion was a training reserve battalion providing drafts to the 1/4 Yorks regiment to make up losses Soldiers were also transferred from the 2/4 Yorks Bn to other Battalions, The York and Lancs being one of them So as I read it Frederick initially served with the 2/4 Yorks He was then transferred/posted to the York and Lancaster Reg Regards Ray Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
