Guest DTHeron Posted 13 October , 2013 Share Posted 13 October , 2013 I have been trying for a while to find out why my grandad, 77190 Driver Thomas Heron,I battery Royal Horse Artillery, won his Military medal.I think it may have been won during the battle of Messines in August 1918.He died in 1961 just after I was born and my Dad says he would never talk about it.I would be very interested to find out more if anyone can help. IPT Posted 17 October , 2013 Share Posted 17 October , 2013 Welcome. His entry in the London Gazette was 13/11/1918 so that may be about right - http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/31007/supplements/13395/ I found a list of ww1 men who had their photo in the Musselburgh News, but sadly your grandad isn't there - http://www.eastlothian.gov.uk/downloads/file/485/musselburgh_news
