Dannemois Posted 13 October , 2013 Posted 13 October , 2013 This is probably going to be a brick wall but I will post anyhow. An interesting entry in the WD of the 16th Welsh dated 30th June 1916 at Toutencourt: Pte 23437 M Oregan, Pte 23111 A G Wells and Pte 40044 E W Sharman were this day transferred to 38 Div Infty Base Depot, under Army Council instruction, being under age. I wonder if anyone know anything of these three soldiers, what become of them, did they survive etc.
ss002d6252 Posted 13 October , 2013 Posted 13 October , 2013 Pte 23437 M Oregan Later served as 267956 RWF - discharged 14 Mar 1919 Pte 40044 E W Sharman Discharged 8 Jan 1919 but had been with the Class W reserve prior to this. Pte 23111 A G WellsNo obvious MIC I could see for him. Craig
Kitchener's Bugle Posted 13 October , 2013 Posted 13 October , 2013 Unable to find Wells on CWGC or on Soldiers who died in the Great War..................as a matter of interest what ages were these young men?
Dannemois Posted 13 October , 2013 Author Posted 13 October , 2013 Hi Craig Thanks for that; are there any clues such as date & place of birth, parents, place of residence on enlistment; would like to find their ages when they signed up.
clive_hughes Posted 13 October , 2013 Posted 13 October , 2013 Medal Roll gives 23437 Martin O'Regan as served 16th Welsh; then just shown as Welsh Regt.; then as 267956 in the RWF (a 6th Battalion TF number); then to 10th RWF (which was disbanded Feb.1918); then Base depot; then 25th RWF rest of the war.
