chrislock Posted 10 October , 2013 Share Posted 10 October , 2013 Not sure if this will help you but the 2/4 Gloucestershire was part of the British 61st Division which collectively suffered severe casualties along side the AIF 5th Division during the 1916 Battle of Fromelles. The Division Memorial is on the town hall wall in nearby Laventie and many of those who fell during that assault are buried within Laventie CWGC cemetery. Trench burials within contain many Gloucestershire Regiment TA soldiers and a brand new on site CWGC information board also contains much info on the 61st Div and it's battalions. Colin W Taylor Posted 10 October , 2013 Share Posted 10 October , 2013 Tim I have the war diary which can be downloaded from the National Archives - WO95/3060. The battalion were last in the trenches before this time on 6th Jan near Hessian and Regina Trenches on the Somme. A couple of men were stated as being wounded - one on the 5th and another on the 6th but they are not named. Kind regards Colin
