Cnock Posted 17 October , 2013 Share Posted 17 October , 2013 Uploaded with ImageShack.us Belgian bajonet mod.1889 Hi Sommewalker, I was only referring to the difference between the German 98/05 and the Lebel The Belgian mod.1889 was indeed a good bajonet, in my younger days relatively easy to find, now very rare (in good condition) regards, Cnock
Whitedog Posted 17 October , 2013 Share Posted 17 October , 2013 Sorry for my error in confusing the 1905 with the 1910, I was thinking of the 1910, actually I have seen the 1905's in better shape than a lot of the 1910's, (service length?) however I found the advice on stretching the canvas very interesting, if not a little bit scary, I would have thought the likelihood of it tearing would have been too risky to try.Well done !khakiKhaki, good point. Such deteriorating scabbards come up from time to time. However if a bayonet scabbard was so rotted, why would a person want to own it? The better conditioned scabbards are tough though and they'll hold up.Fred
