Tank Posted 7 October , 2013 Posted 7 October , 2013 Hi Folks I need help from anyone that's researched the NZEF. The enclosed casualty report has been downloaded from the NZ Archives but I'm struggling to decipher the names in the Place of Casualty column if anyone has better eyes than mine. Cheers Tank
sotonmate Posted 7 October , 2013 Posted 7 October , 2013 It says, in sequence of entry, Anzac (presumably Gallipoli),ditto (the same place again),Alexandria (Egypt),Ghezirah (island on the River Nile in Cairo),Ismailia (in Egypt) and below that ditto again.
Tank Posted 8 October , 2013 Author Posted 8 October , 2013 Many thanks sotonmate, that helps tremendously.
AndyMacdonald Posted 19 November , 2013 Posted 19 November , 2013 For most of the time period shown in those scans, above, the soldier was in the Canterbury Infantry Battalion, not 2nd Battalion, Canterbury Infantry Regiment. They are not synonymous with one another, although the latter in part descends from the former. Andy
