roselyn2 Posted 5 October , 2013 Posted 5 October , 2013 (edited) I went to a local Antiques Fair today. I picked up a GV MILITARY MEDAL WITH A VICTORY. The M.M. was erased but the Victory is named to G-32292 PTE. M. C. TROTMAN. R. SUSS. R. Also hand written in the lid of a box 1919 Presented To 32292 Pte. M.C. Trotman 17th. Batt. Royal Syssex Regt. Egypt By Col. G.O.Brooke.In the box is an unnamed cigatette case with Egyptian figures but nothing engraved. I would like to know if Trotman was awarded the Military Medal ?. I've tried the London Gazette but could not find him. Any help would be great. Thank you. Lyn. Edited 5 October , 2013 by David Lyn
Old Owl Posted 5 October , 2013 Posted 5 October , 2013 Hi David, From his MIC his full name is Morgan Charles Trotman, but I cannot see any reference to an M.M. Hopefully someone will be along soon with some more info. Good Luck! Robert
rac1473 Posted 5 October , 2013 Posted 5 October , 2013 I have just checked through Honours & Awards book for the Royal Sussex by Richard Buckman and there is no mention or entry of Trotman being awarded the MM.
roselyn2 Posted 5 October , 2013 Author Posted 5 October , 2013 Sad to see a Military Medal medal erased, or any other medal. If there is no connection to Trotman I'll put it up for sale. Thank you Robert.rac1473 for your help. Lyn.
