Paul Ormerod Posted 5 October , 2013 Posted 5 October , 2013 (edited) Already some mixed feelings and debate about the proposals described in the Cambridge News today: "A living memorial to the First World War is set to be created in the Cambridgeshire countryside – complete with a trench-lined battlefield the size of two football pitches. A planning application has submitted to build the National Centre for the Great War on land at Hacker’s Fruit Farm in Dry Drayton - in the hope that the £2 million museum can open in time for next year’s centenary of the conflict." Steven Broomfield Posted 5 October , 2013 Posted 5 October , 2013 I believe plans are also afoot to "improve" the A14 (to be fair, making it worse would be one hell of a challenge) on the bit between Cambridge and Huntingdon. The comments on the paper's website are suitably cynical. I used to work for the Cambridge Evening News. Bet you feel better for knowing that.
Stoppage Drill Posted 5 October , 2013 Posted 5 October , 2013 Somebody out in that neck of the woods has had a modern-built trench system on his land for several years, frequently hired out to film/TV producers. Saw something about it somewhere. Telegraph Magazine ?
Allison01 Posted 22 July , 2015 Posted 22 July , 2015 Sorry to resurrect an old thread but thought it better than starting a new one. I noticed the new site is underway at Hemingford Abbots golf course after the last site was rejected. http://www.lestweforget.eu.com/index.html
MichaelBully Posted 16 August , 2015 Posted 16 August , 2015 Thanks for the update. Interesting. I hadn't any idea that this was happening.
