little bob Posted 29 September , 2013 Share Posted 29 September , 2013 Remembering Pte., 44669 Ernest Smith 11th Battalion Welsh Regiment died of wounds 28th September 1918 aged 23. Born in Scarborough in 1897 he was one of the eleven children of James Wood and Amelia Smith. James ,a fisherman moved the family to Milford Haven where they lived at 18 Trafalgar Road. Ernest enlisted in the Cardiff Pals whilst living in Cardiff. He was wounded during the second battle of Doiran and Pneumonia brought about his early death.
