Simon Birch Posted 29 September , 2013 Share Posted 29 September , 2013 Does anyone have access to this book and if so is there an entry for 7 November 1917 an Airco DH4 accidentally crashed somewhere near Llangefni, killing the pilot 2nd Lieut. Bernard Robert Hadow CARTER RFC. He served with 19 TS and came from Slimbridge in Gloucestershire. Does anyone know the cause of this accident? I have his AIR76 but there are no details. Many thanks as always for your help. Simon
mickdavis Posted 29 September , 2013 Share Posted 29 September , 2013 The DH4 was one of six attached to the airship station for temporary anti-submarine work. Some sources have it as a 17 TS machine but that's very unlikely - 17 TS was dedicated to training Corps-Reconnaissance pilots and equipped with DH6s, BE2s and RE8s. 19 TS was training Day Light Bombing pilots and had DH4s. Carter stalled the machine on a turn while attempting to land.
