draperju Posted 19 September , 2013 Posted 19 September , 2013 I am interested in M2/099939 John Robert Huntley 884 MT Company Died of wounds 29 September 1917 Medal Roll Card 8 July 1915 France I believe M2 denotes electricians. Is this correct? I have look under the section on ASC in the Long Long Trial and can find no mention of MT 884 Company Can anyone help with this? Also does anyone have any idea about John's enlistment date. Best wishes Draperju
Admin spof Posted 19 September , 2013 Admin Posted 19 September , 2013 Hello Draperju M2 is a reference to Mechanical Transport so his unit drove motor vehicles rather than using horses. 884 MT Coy were attached to 18 Corps HQ Heavy Artillery so they would have bee nmoving the shells and supplies. By the end of the war they were attached to "T" Corps Siege Park - again involved in supplying the artillery. Glen
