The Battalion arrived in France on the 6th June 1916, first to Lillers but within 48 hours were ordered to march to Choques and La Beuvriere at the bombing School four other ranks were wounded and on 21 June Capt C.A. Nesbet was killed in a grenade accident. On 24 June the battalion went into the line at Calonne, being under instruction attached to regular Battalions. This was the first time they came under fire and sustaining about fifteen casualties. In early July they moved into the right sector of the Ist Corps line in the Lens area. The battalion taking over trenches at Maroc, including the Double Crassier.

Have you checked his medal entitlement in the Medal Roles? That should answer your question.

His SWB record indicates that he didn't go overseas. Enlisted 21.11.15, discharged due to deafness on 07.08.16. And I can't see him on a medal roll..
