The above mentioned Soldier was reported Killed in a Casualty list published 6th May 1918. A search of CWGC records him as being

PICKLES. A

Rank: Private

Service Number: 29588

Date of Death 30th March 1918

Regiment: Grenadier Guards

2nd Battalion

Grave Reference: Special Memorial V.A. 3 Buried near this spot

BUCQUOY ROAD CEMETERY, FICHEUX

http://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/2001504/PICKLES,%20A

SDGW records him as Arthur Pickles.

The Commonwealth War Graves Register for the Arras Memorial has the following:-

PICKLES, Pte. William Arthur, 29588. 2nd Bn Grenadier Guards. 30th March 1918. Aged 20. Son of Mary J Pickles, of 30, Lark Lane, Sefton Park, Liverpool, and the late John W Pickles.

I searched the Casualty records for the Arras Memorial on CWGC and his is not listed.

So my query is?.

Why is there no record on CWGC with his full details? yet he is recorded in the original CWGC Register for the Arras Memorial.

Can his details be amended?

with millions of entries errors and omissions are quite common

you would need to email them and ask when evidence they require to amend - it can and has been done before

Thanks Coldstreamer I will highlight his entry and make contact with CWGC

The Private William Arthur Pickles mentioned in the blog was my Great Uncle, and I have his 'Dead Man's Penny' and British War Medal and the Victory Medal.

I can supply photos of the above if requested. They are in excelent condition. The Death Plaque is in its original folder, and the medals are in the boxes they were sent out with. Unfortunately, I don't think I have the certificate for the plaque.

I was left them when my Mum, another of his nieces (Patricia, daughter of his Auntie Ethel) passed away recently.

I was wondering if Kathy was actually his niece (daughter of his brother George W Pickles)?
