nf3996 Posted 18 September , 2013 Posted 18 September , 2013 I recently acquired the attached postcard, which shows NCOs of the North Somerset Yeomanry at the regiment's last pre-war summer camp at Wilton. I'd hoped the photo would show the sergeants (and include my great-great uncle, 942 Alfred Ernest Cleall), but from the stripes on the men's arms, it only seems to include corporals. I know there are several Forum members with an interest in the NSY, and I was hoping some of you may be able to identify some of the men in the photo. Alan
sotonmate Posted 18 September , 2013 Posted 18 September , 2013 Is it a trick of the light or do I see Sergeants too ? I fancy I do. The gent 4 right front seems to have left his at home, unless he has an unobtrusive forearm badge of a Higher NCO,but then we all know that they don't do unobtrusive.
nf3996 Posted 18 September , 2013 Author Posted 18 September , 2013 I think it's a trick of the light. I blew the photo up really big and looked at it closely before posting. The stripes are quite thick, but I can only see a maximum of two stripes on any arm. I wonder if the man with no stripes is the adjutant? Alan
