Dan Morton Posted 16 September , 2013 Posted 16 September , 2013 Not Great War, but.... 1/16th scale model homage to George Hill's Montreal monument to the CMR. What attracted me was the outstanding pose used by Mr. Hill. Not meant to be a copy of the monument, of course. The horse is originally from a Verlinden kit, but heavily modified. The figure's head and a few other bits are from kits and suppliers. The remainder is Magic Sculpt. This figure has not been painted yet and is available for purchase. Hope you like it! All the best, Dan More photos... And more...
Lancashire Fusilier Posted 17 September , 2013 Posted 17 September , 2013 Dan A superb model, you must be pleased with your work. By coincidence, I have the bandolier he is wearing, stamped ' CMR ' Canadian Mounted Rifles, and dated 1914. Regards, LF
Dan Morton Posted 17 September , 2013 Author Posted 17 September , 2013 Thanks for the compliment on the model! Flawless example of the bandoleer! I didn't know they were still being used in 1914. Do you know the original production date of that type? One of the things I particularly enjoy about making models is the historical research on uniforms, weapons and equipment. All the best, Dan
Lancashire Fusilier Posted 17 September , 2013 Posted 17 September , 2013 Dan, I started a Thread - ' British WW1 Mounted Infantry 50 round .303 Bandolier - photos 'This has lots of information and photographs on this Bandolier, the original version was dated 21st August 1896 - List of Changes No. 8391. It was later modified to the version I have under List of Changes 8789, which was the design used in WW1. Regards, LF
Dan Morton Posted 17 September , 2013 Author Posted 17 September , 2013 Cheers LF and Sepoy! A question for anybody or everybody - those of you who are model makers - - Would you find a commercial kit produced based on this piece of interest? All the best, Dan
