Roy,

this is an absuolute dreamland to me.

Big challenge to the team.

If transscriptions wanted, I will start working on the texts from tomorrow on and will give you the texts in modern German as well as in translations into English right here.

Thank you so very much for sharing and for spending your time at making possible to see that great stuff.

What a great collection!

Just one Then & Now (simply love it)

Fromelles: There are still graves next to the church (wonder if they got any hits during the war)

No idea what the damaged buidling on the left was used for.

Many people visiting the new CWGC-cemetery in Fromelles will pass this spot. Not visible on the old photo is the Gallodrome-bar on the right ("Primus") which was visited by so many Anzacs and British soldiers during the war (and during the construction of the cemetery!)

= Shelled part of a trench in the Sereth Line (Rumania) near 'Galeaska' [Garleasca]. Grenadier-Regiment. No.2. / 4th coy. On July 19th 1917. L. B.

German Grenadier-Regiment No. 2 in July 1917 was part of the 174th Infantry Brigade belonging to the 109th Infantry Division

The official German term for the operation was 'Stellungskrieg an Putna und Sereth (Rum.)' = Trench warfare at the rivers Putna and Sereth (Rumania).

The German 109th Infantry Division was involved from January 6th to July 21st 1917.

= Now my holydays are elongated up to October 23rd, so that I can take part at the After Kermess Hunt until it's end. If you in your actual position could fetch up photographs (telescope, aviator etc) as also trench maps or something else, steal as much as you can get, since later on they will be a nice souvenir to you, and at the staff they will be thrown away only.

Firstly a HAPPY NEW YEAR !

my work on your postcards (localization, verification and mastermind translation only) has not finished yet and should be continued in time.

The year 2014 has started, so from August 1st on forums on WW1 will run hot for 47 months in the minorest.
