Non service records - letters written to War Office

Can anyone help with advice on how to locate letters written to the War office ?

My grandfather Richard Sinclair was one of five brothers who fought in WW1. After four of the boys were killed their father wrote to the War Office asking for his last son to be sent home.

I have a copy of the reply confirming that Richard would be placed on Home Duties. Can anyone suggest where I might be able to find a copy of the letter my great grandfather wrote to the War Office asking for his last son to be sent home.

Do you know if his service records still exist? These type of letters were kept with the records.

You often see letters written by the soldiers wife or parents with all the official documents.

I've viewed his service record online, but no record/mention of the letter written to the War Office by his father.
