AndyMacdonald Posted 12 September , 2013 Share Posted 12 September , 2013 Hi all, I am trying to find a photograph of a young soldier who was killed on the first day of the Somme, 1 July 1916. Hi name was Alfred James Rees, and he was a private in the 2nd Royal Fusiliers. He died aged 19 years old, in the vicinity of the Hawthorn Mine crater, not far from Newfoundland Memorial Park. He was from Poplar in London. Can any one out there suggest where I might find begin a search to find a photograph of him? So far I have searched a few newspapers, so far without luck. Bests and thanks in advance Andy
