Tim Godden Posted 20 September , 2004 Share Posted 20 September , 2004 Hi Andrew, I would guess that 'chevrions' are in fact chevrons. He received one blue chevron to sew on to his uniform for every year he was overseas. They were introduced late in the war, so he would have been issued firstly for the years he had been in service until that point and then another for every year after. You can summise from this that he was conscripted in 1917 and served in 1918 too. As for the second part I cannot help I am afraid, but I am sure that someone else will be able to.
