ralphjd Posted 4 September , 2013 Share Posted 4 September , 2013 My book is on the verge of going to the publishers, just tweaking a few bits here and there, one question re a soldier who enlisted in 1915 and was killed in a zepp raid Cleethorpes 1st April 1916, never having gone abroad. I have read all the books re the issue of medals but cannot fathom whether or not he would have been entitled to the War Medal purely on its own. Any thoughts ? Ralph. LarsA Posted 4 September , 2013 Share Posted 4 September , 2013 If he was british, a death plaque would be his only entitlement. ATB, Lars
ralphjd Posted 4 September , 2013 Author Share Posted 4 September , 2013 Just found an entry in a book purchased at the National Arboretum :- Some were also awarded by themselves for service in the UK - most commonly to personnel of the Royal Navy who were mobilised for war service,to the Coast Guard or to the RNAS. So answered my own question I suppose. Thanks chaps. Ralph.
