Yes, this is really something else !

The clarity of definition is striking.

Don't those Germans look triumphant ?

You wouldn't imagine that they were within six months of throwing in the towel, would you ?

The huge mass of French prisoners ( do I recognise the towers of Laon there?) reminds me of footage a generation later of Soviet PoWs.

The vignettes of soldiers tucking in to their grub, especially the scenes of soldiers pitching those sides of beef from the railway wagons, brings the thing to life in a manner that I find inspirational, but somehow eerie.

Wonderful stuff.
