centurion Posted 31 August , 2013 Share Posted 31 August , 2013 Hate to be a doubter but given the length of exposure needed for colour photography at the time the images of those explosions look awfully sharp.
ianjonesncl Posted 31 August , 2013 Share Posted 31 August , 2013 Have a look at the hands of the chap in front of the soldier on the left. Is he taking a picture with a mobile phone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SiegeGunner Posted 31 August , 2013 Share Posted 31 August , 2013 And are those digger track imprints in the bottom right-hand corner? I suspect this is the group of re-enactors that Egbert has teased us with before .... and the photo's 'Properties' say it was taken on 25.8.2013. egbert Posted 31 August , 2013 Author Share Posted 31 August , 2013 Well I am not buying that. The guy surely points in surprise to wards the Austrian detachment , not holding a cell phone. You should know that they did not exist then. Digger prints? I am not so sure either- if yes than maybe made with one of those German diggers. (Photo from Western front). So could be another -or early 1914 version of Schützengraben-digger

johnboy Posted 31 August , 2013 Share Posted 31 August , 2013 The soldier in the foreground has just placed his towel down and is pointing at the Austrians shouting that he is off for breakfast but will be back later.
