1914 Pattern Holster?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Slightly OT as it is post-WWII dated, but I picked up this holster on Saturday that looks like a 1914 Pattern, but lacks the brace attachment buckle. It is maker marked:

HOBSON & SONS

1951

(LONDON) LTD

I can't see a broadarrow marking, so could it be police/military private purchase/civilian? Grateful for any input.

Cheers,

Mark

Hello Mark,

Could we have a look at the back of the holster?

Thanks

Odd. I can see 2 pics of both the front and back. I'll have another go.

Hobson did make military kit, but they are extremely well known for making Police kit. Various Police forces were still using leather equipment styled on pieces of the 1903 and 1914 leather equipment well into the post-WW2 period.

Thanks Andrew, I don't know what happened, but I could not see the second image, (can now). I have a similar holster without the buckle straps and with a wide belt loop in russet brown. I have always been suspicious that it was WW2 as it is not dated.

Thanks. I shall assume it's probably a police holster then. Not something I specifically collect, but at least my Webley MkIV should look good in it.
