mattp Posted 24 August , 2013 Share Posted 24 August , 2013 Hope someone can help. Being designated a Rifle Battalion 5th S.Lancs had at the start of the war Black badges, buttons etc. Would anyone know if they managed to keep them until the end of the war or did they revert to the normal brass. max7474 Posted 28 August , 2013 Share Posted 28 August , 2013 The Bn would have been issued standard bimetal badges or all brass badges from 1916. The pre-war TF soldiers may have kept their old blank scroll badges but from 1916 they TF were issued the standard badge. The use of the black blank scroll badge may not have been universal before 1916 anyway.
