South African Unit = CPG R; assistance please

Recommended Posts

Advice please.

I am helping research the Garlick family from Cape Town, Roy Garlick was one of the First Tank Crews; Archie served as a RM officer and the eldest brother Charlie served in the "CPG R".

Charlie was awarded the BVM and the Silver Badge. His family tell me his details are given as "2nd C/W/O no1123 R C Garlick CPG Regt 874". I woudl imagine his rank is WO2 and his service number is 1123. The Garlick family came from Cape Town so I imagine CP may be Cape Province

I have trawled the Ancestry site and various South Africa websites to no avail, Can some one please assist by confirming his unit.

Many thanks
