Last Sibling of Albert Livermore - 8th Btn Norfolks

At the weekend my Great Aunt Glad died at the age of 102, she was the last surviving sister of Albert Livermore (27301) who died on 22nd October 1917 (aged 32) & is buried in Bedford House cemetary.

Although she was only 2 at the start of the war, she told many tales about him - most of which have turned out to be true. However, we don't have too much detail about what he might have been involved with at the time of his death, so if anyone has access to the War Diary etc we would be greatful.

We are going to try to give every one of their surviving relatives a little potted history & given they were 2 out of 13 children....

It is a very odd thought that she died nearly 97 years after him.

Hi Julia,

The battalion war diary is very brief, saying see appendix 59.

War diary entry

Battalion carried out an attack in the vicinity of Poelcappelle. For part played by battalion during this operation see narrative attached (Appendix 59)

If you would care to send me a message with your e-mail address I will gladly forward you the diary and referred to appendix.

Julia

I can put you in touch with Dick Rayner who (conservatively I estimate) knows more about the 8th / Norfolks than the 8th Norfolks knew about themselves! Please send me your e-mail address, via a PM, and I will make the contact for you.
