Maricourt Posted 16 August , 2013 Posted 16 August , 2013 This is a long shot for Forum Pals but can anyone possibly help identify this officer who was awarded a Military Cross around March/April 1916? The only information I have is his name - Kennedy - and the following entry in a diary: "Kennedy in charge of RFA in charge of T.M. who I recommended for the M.C. got it and came down to thank me. A nice boy, very Scotch but a proper fighter. He well deserved it." Any help very much appreciated! Regards ... Maricourt EDIT: I've amended to the Topic Title to cover a wider spectrum!
David Porter Posted 16 August , 2013 Posted 16 August , 2013 Try Norman Robert Kennedy, WO 338 has him as an M.C. winner attached to a T.M. battery. London Gazette April 6, 1918. 2nd Lt. Norman Robert Kennedy, R. Scots. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in pushing forward with two Stokes mortars, under heavy shell fire, and rallying and reorganising scattered groups of men at a critical stage and defending the position won against counter-attacks.
Maricourt Posted 16 August , 2013 Author Posted 16 August , 2013 Thanks, David - I've just looked at his MIC and his date of entry into the war was 22nd August, 1916. It all would have fitted in with the diary so well apart from the dates! Thank you for looking through TNA and LG for me - it's a mystery to me how they work!! I never seem to hit lucky. Regards ... Maricourt
