Roger H Posted 15 August , 2013 Posted 15 August , 2013 I can't find the SDGW record for this man: http://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/321774/STANLEY,%20EDWIN I know he died on 28/2/1919 but shouldn't there be a record for him? His MIC is on Ancestry. Am I missing something? Roger
keithmroberts Posted 15 August , 2013 Posted 15 August , 2013 SDGW records stop at the armistice. Keith
Roger H Posted 15 August , 2013 Author Posted 15 August , 2013 Thanks Keith, I thought that they went into 1919. Roger
Roger H Posted 15 August , 2013 Author Posted 15 August , 2013 How come this bloke snuck in then? http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin/sse.dll?indiv=1&db=UKsoldiersGreatWar&rank=1&new=1&MSAV=0&msT=1&gss=angs-d&gsfn=Edwin&gsln=Stanley&gskw=%22148115%22&dbOnly=_F00027E3%7c_F00027E3_x%2c_F00046D2%7c_F00046D2_x%2c_F00046D8%7c_F00046D8_x%2c_F00046D9%7c_F00046D9_x%2c_F00046DB%7c_F00046DB_x%2c_F0003CCD%7c_F0003CCD_x&uidh=ej5&pcat=39&fh=305&h=1041219&recoff=6&fsk=BEFq368IgAAGBwAJDT8-61-&bsk=&pgoff= Roger
ss002d6252 Posted 15 August , 2013 Posted 15 August , 2013 Ancestry states the data set is from 1914-1919. Craig
John_Hartley Posted 15 August , 2013 Posted 15 August , 2013 How come this bloke snuck in then? You answer your own question. He snuck in. There are very very few post-Armistice listings in SDGW.
Roger H Posted 15 August , 2013 Author Posted 15 August , 2013 Thanks John. Just strange that he happened to have the same surname as the man I was after!! Roger
David Porter Posted 15 August , 2013 Posted 15 August , 2013 Roger, For what it is worth he joined the RFA at No. 4 Depot, Woolwich between July 7 - 10, 1916. I will PM you with other men I have found who were in 311 Bde or the Army Brigade Ammunition Column.
keithmroberts Posted 15 August , 2013 Posted 15 August , 2013 And an apology from me. I have never found casualties/deaths subsequent to the armistice, and didn't think any were included. Live and learn. Keith
Roger H Posted 15 August , 2013 Author Posted 15 August , 2013 Keith What on earth are you apologising for? It is clear that your post reflects the general principle. Roger
Admin spof Posted 15 August , 2013 Admin Posted 15 August , 2013 I didn't think there were many either but I've just done search on the CD and there are 4193 records between 12.11.18 and 31.8.21.
