North Staffs - which battalion?

Hi there

I have a query for a friend working on her family tree - Her relative is Robert TONKINSON who served with the North Staffs throughout the war - he enlisted 13th August '14, MC says arrived F&F 5/3/15; later Labour Corps no. 2609 and discharged May '19.

His Staffs number is 165196 - I'm guessing from MC he's 1/5th 1/6th of 46th Div - can anyone help me be more specific??

Not an expert but 1/6 NSR arrived 5 March 1915.

1/5 NSR arrived about the same time BUT "C" and "D" Companies sailed sailed on 2 March, "A" and "B" on 3 March.

So, and I'm sticking my neck out out here, probably 1/6th.

Further, 2608 was in the 1/6th, as was 2605.
