Hi. I am looking for any information about Internment Camps in the UK during the First World War, specifically the one that was located in Billericay in Essex. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Might help if you gave some indication of how much work you have done already (otherwise people may think you haven't done any and are hoping people on this Forum will do it for you...)

James, Hi. I am looking for any information about Internment Camps in the UK during the First World War, specifically the one that was located in Billericay in Essex. Any information is greatly appreciated. It was a simple question, or so I thought. I didn't realise I had to explain how much work if any I had already done or that people might think I haven't done any work or that I was hoping other people on this forum might do it for me, but thanks for the advice.

Steve, I don't think James was being rude. It's just that your question was 'huge' and difficult to respond to without some sort of context. As you've now given that somebody (hopefully) will be able to answer you (but not me as I know nowt about Essex!).

I've posted somewhat inconsequentially in the other thread. Ideally the two should be merged or one locked, otherwise if there are more answers in both we'll get confused.

Steve: we've had a number of cases in the past in which members have gone to some trouble to provide information, only to be told by the enquirer that (s)he knew all that, but thanks anyway.

Andrew,

Many thanks. You make a fair point.

James

Apologies if my reply came across a tad sharp.
