I'd be very grateful if anyone can give me information about Lt. Francis William Joseph Galton in the Devonshire Regiment killed on April 23rd 1917 and his older brother 2nd Lt. Thodore Hugh Galton of the Worcesters, KIA October 23rd 1914.

I've taken a look at Ancestry site so I know they were sons of minor aristocracy living at Hadzor Hall in Worcestershire. Any other information, particularly about where they served and their deaths would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Alec

Many thanks for your helpful comments.

Can you tell me what the 1st Devons were doing on April 23rd 1917? I assume it was connected to the Arras offensive. Also, whilst I assume the 1st Worcesters were in the thick of the first Ypres battles, does anyone know what was happening with them on October 23rd 1914?

Thanks

1st Devons were part of 95th Brigade 5th Div Jan 16-Nov17.

3rd Worcs landed Rouen 16/8/14 18/10/14 part of 25th Div.

If you go to the Long Long Trail link top left of page you will find a host of info including battle dates,Divs and Brigades involved.
