I was surprised to see this article in the Scotsman of 14th July 1915. I have never read before of a minister making munitions.

A MINISTER’S WAR SERVICE

Yesterday [13 July 1915] the United Free Presbytery of Hamilton unanimously agreed to the application of the Reverend G.S. Gilmour, Burnbank, to devote 3 days a week to the making of munitions, his session and managers having also approved of this arrangement. Mr. Gilmour was an engineer to trade before entering the ministry.
