Colin W Taylor Posted 3 August , 2013 Posted 3 August , 2013 Craig The diary states: 23rd April at St Jean. 7.30 pm ‘A, B + C Coys advanced to farm 2000 yards due north of St Jean + commenced digging themselves in.’ 11.30 pm ‘Owing to our right being exposed + a gap of about 100 yards between the composite brigade + the Canadians, orders were received to withdraw + dig ourselves in on the ridge 1400 yards north of St Jean. The casualties during the days operations amounted to Capts Taylor, Pull [or Bull?] + Green + 2/Lieut Richard wounded, 12 NCOs + men killed and 98 NCOs + men wounded + 10 missing.’ Kind regards Colin
KevinBattle Posted 3 August , 2013 Posted 3 August , 2013 CWGC simply has 10 OR's of 9th Battalion, Royal Scots killed, of whom only 2 have known graves. Captain A Taylor was eventually killed on 21st April 1917 aged 45. The other officers mentioned don't show as casualties, at least not in 9th Battalion.
