warproject Posted 1 August , 2013 Posted 1 August , 2013 Hi. I have information about the above person having been a bugler dying in France late 1916 or beginging of 1917. I can not find a service record or medal card for him. There is a possible man on the latest census but do not know for sure if it is him. T.I.A. Sandy
ss002d6252 Posted 1 August , 2013 Posted 1 August , 2013 W W Adams is the only obvious man I can see http://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/468405/ADAMS,%20W%20W Craig

warproject Posted 1 August , 2013 Author Posted 1 August , 2013 Hi Craig. Thank you for replying. I do have both the Soldiers died in the Great War and Army Roll of Honour - World War 2. I should have said he is noted as being on a Wellingborough list and I thought it could have been the man born in Birmingham on the census. Greatly appreciate your advice. Sandy
warproject Posted 1 August , 2013 Author Posted 1 August , 2013 Hi again Craig. It was some information I was allowed to copy from Wellingborough Musuem. Wellingborough WW1 Dead. Bugler William Adams, Northamptonshire Regiment, killed in action late 1916 or early 1917. Sandy
ss002d6252 Posted 1 August , 2013 Posted 1 August , 2013 I can't see anyone else obvious - the local papers may have something. Craig
warproject Posted 1 August , 2013 Author Posted 1 August , 2013 Hi again Craig. I am afraid that is where the problem lies. The Wellingborough newspapers for 1914-1920 have gone missing. I do have some newspaper cuttings but nothing on William. I was also hoping Stebie9173 might advise me as he may know if any one else has them. Thanks again for your time and advice. Sandy
ss002d6252 Posted 1 August , 2013 Posted 1 August , 2013 The British Newspaper archives might have the papers . If they do then they should digitise them at some point. Craig
Stebie9173 Posted 1 August , 2013 Posted 1 August , 2013 I have never found the Wellingborough Newspapers - having said that I haven't exactly looked too hard for them either, probably only asking once at Wellingborough library (for microfilm) when they said they didn't have them. I have never taken it beyond that. The Kettering Leader and Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph do stray into Wellingborough territory but the town is not their primary focus. I can't see an obvious candidate for him, I'm afraid. I am tied up on other things at the moment, but I will attempt to give it some thought. Steve.
warproject Posted 2 August , 2013 Author Posted 2 August , 2013 Thank you both for your replies. Greatly appreciated. Sandy
