I found an obituary to a great-uncle which stated that he had been 'attached to the navy at Grimsby and Scapa'. His civil occupation was architect, but I have no other clues to his naval career, if any. His name was Wilfrid Ainslie, born 1859, and his practice was mainly in London.

Any suggestions please for this needle in a haystack?

They are the same man: CPO AA/2687 and his later papers as a Lieutenant RNVR. RNVR Anti-Aircraft Corps London Division
