daggers Posted 31 July , 2013 Posted 31 July , 2013 I found an obituary to a great-uncle which stated that he had been 'attached to the navy at Grimsby and Scapa'. His civil occupation was architect, but I have no other clues to his naval career, if any. His name was Wilfrid Ainslie, born 1859, and his practice was mainly in London. Any suggestions please for this needle in a haystack? D
Terence Munson Posted 31 July , 2013 Posted 31 July , 2013 Hi, Both of these records at the PRO look promising: Wilfred Ainslie (RNVR) Link & Link Terry
horatio2 Posted 31 July , 2013 Posted 31 July , 2013 They are the same man: CPO AA/2687 and his later papers as a Lieutenant RNVR. RNVR Anti-Aircraft Corps London Division
Brigantian Posted 3 August , 2013 Posted 3 August , 2013 Daggers The Anti-Aircraft Corps is one of my interests and I have a photograph of your great uncle's record of service with them (the second of TcM59's links). Drop me a pm with your email address if you would like a copy. Regards Mark
