Guy William John Farquhar was gazetted and posted to Reserve Bn Coldm Gds 5/2/17 as a 2Lt.

Posted to 2Coldm Gds 4/2/18 until 9/9/18 when he was invalided back to the Res Bn with dysentery.

Posted back to 2 Coldm Gds 5/3/19 until he was demobbed on 6/7/19

All info from his Service Record.

Now trying to add some flesh to the bones.

1. Was the Res Bn in Windsor?

2. Where was 2nd Bn in Feb 1918?

3. Believe he was involved in the battle of St Quentin 21-23 March. What other engagements was the Bn involved in from Feb to Sept 1918?

4. Does anyone have access to 2nd Bn's WD for this period?

5. Would an orbat exist detailing which pl/coy he served with?

6. Where was the 2nd Bn in March 1919?

Thank you in advance for any leads/info/suggestions.

Hi Folium

For a mere 3 quid or so you can download the War Diary from

http://discovery.nat...scription=False

which would seem to answer some of your questions at least.

(and being an officer he may be named)

Regards,

Graeme

The Long Long Trail, link at top left of this page, shows 5th (Reserve) Battalion as formed in Windsor in 1914 and a no other destination for it thereafter.

1. Was the Res Bn in Windsor? Yes

2. Where was 2nd Bn in Feb 1918? they moved around so cant generalise - started in Arras

3. Believe he was involved in the battle of St Quentin 21-23 March. What other engagements was the Bn involved in from Feb to Sept 1918? - too many to list - define engagements ? Engaging and being shot at was almost daily

4. Does anyone have access to 2nd Bn's WD for this period? yes

5. Would an orbat exist detailing which pl/coy he served with? I don't have one

6. Where was the 2nd Bn in March 1919? pass

As a suggestion putting abbreviations can lead to posts not being seen

Apologies. Assumed that Coldm Gds was a fairly well recognised abbreviation.

Thank you re the response. I plan to download my email frm Kew with the WD 1915-1919 to see what I can find out.
