Guest Gypseybaron Posted 27 July , 2013 Posted 27 July , 2013 First World War-German South West Africa Campaign- Letter by Capt Trevitt-SA Engineers.docThe following is an excerpt from a letter, originally sent by a Captain Trevitt, of the South African Engineers, to a lady friend in Long Eaton ( United Kingdom ). In his narrative, he recounts his personal experiences during the campaign, describing the extremely harsh geographical environment and conditions faced by both South African and German forces, with particular reference to the advance inland from the coast towards Windhoek. A copy of this letter was originally published in an edition of the " Long Eaton Advertiser " newspaper, at the request of the recipient. ( 1915 ).
